aimed to create a meeting

of new ideas, questions and change.
Andrew L. Urban accepted
an invitation
from the Manly ScreenWorks Film Festival to become
Festival Patron from Festival Director Boyd Attwell.
The launch, A Taste of ScreenWorks,
was held at the Manly Art Gallery as part of the Manly Arts
Festival.
Local MP, David Barr officiated.
SoundWorks Fundraiser
was held at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church
helping The Shepherd Centre and the 2001 ScreenWorks
Film Festival

Screening Week
A unique program of films was screened in the North Steyne Surf
Pavilion
each night from which the finalists were chosen.
Open forum discussion was held each night after each screening.
The Final Event
screened outdoors at The International College of Tourism
and Hotel Management with its stunning views of the Northern
Beaches.
The audience enjoyed an afternoon in the sun
listening to the soulful sounds of Craig
Calhoun and the Brothers of Oz,
whilst sampling the tastes of the various food stalls
and enjoying a drink from the licensed bar

Prizes to the value of $10,500 were awarded.
Films were judged by a panel of representatives from
the Australian film industry. Andrew Urban frontline
presenter, Louise Keller, Sandra Hall,
Michael Eldred, from Dendy Cinemas, Josh Pomeranz,
Bec Smith, from If magazine, filmmaker Phil Avalon
and
Rod Bennett from the Manly Daily.
The festival operated as a non profit incorporated
association
and gained indispensable support from Manly Council,
local residents and businesses, many film industry players
and the NSW Film and Television Office.
