Adam Hill



Ancestry:

Daingatti
Adam Hill was born in Blacktown, grew up in Penrith.
Adam’s Aboriginal origins are from Burnt Bridge-Kempsey N.S.W. Daingatti
Country is where his Father’s Mother was from. Adam began to trace his
ancestry after being encouraged by his Indigenous peers at the University of
Western Sydney, Nepean. Adam's Aboriginal origins are Daingatti.
His Grand Mother was a Morthern from Burnt Bridge-Kempsey NSW.
Since studying at UWS, Adam has gained
understanding of not only his own culture, but many other Australian
Indigenous cultures.

Artistic Style & Artistic Influence:
Adam's artistic influence stems from his Gubbah Uncles on his Mother's side of the family, however his art is now reflective of his Indigenous heritage and issues that are of particular concern to all. Adam's art style is colourful and powerful and has earned considerable respect and accolades within the Indigenous community.



Other talents:

Adam has become a respected performer of Yidaki (Didgeridoo) both nationally and internationally and has performed innumerable public ceremonies
including an invitation to play for Mr Nelson Mandela.
Adam prides his learning on Yolngu teachings from North East Arnhem Land
and is affiliated with the NAISDA / BANGARRA dance companies.



Exhibitions/Collections/Murals/Performance:
Adam has become a respected painter of urban Indigenous acclaim.
Adam has exhibited in numerous invitational exhibitions
and has held several solo exhibits.
Adam's artwork is exhibited at numerous venues from the
Walkabout Gallery in Leichhardt to the Sydney Opera House.

Adam is a member of Boomalli Aboriginal Artists. Collections range from
Liverpool, Penrith and Blacktown City councils to private,
both nationally and internationally.
Adam continues to produce works of a grand scale for the likes of
the Archibald Prize, Telstra National Indigenous Art Award
and various r e g i o n a l
gallery acquisitives.



Performances range from residencies at the Art Gallery of N.S.W. to the
Sydney Opera House as well as International tours.
The most recent being Vietnam.
Adam was the first Didgeridoo player in history to conduct
music workshops through the country.
